If you have used your AIA HSG Max plan to pay for your hospital bill, Shield Benefits Preserver allows us to restore the benefits of your AIA HSG Max plan by recovering your claim amount from your employer's insurance plan. This is made possible with the last-payer status of MediSave-approved Integrated Shield Plans, which includes AIA HSG Max plan.

Why use Shield Benefits Preserver?
Deductible and co-insurance are amounts that you are required to pay when using your Integrated Shield Plans, including AIA HSG Max. If you have purchased an add-on cover that pays for the deductible and co-insurance, you still need to pay a minimum 5% co-payment1.
However, these out-of-pocket expenses may be recoverable from your employer's insurance plan.
Hence, by using Shield Benefits Preserver, you could potentially recover your out-of-pocket expenses for your hospital bill.

Claiming from your employer's insurance plan could help preserve the policy year limit of your AIA HSG Max policy — reducing the likelihood of exceeding the policy year limit in the event of future medical expenses. It also helps to keep premiums affordable in the long run.
The deductible waiver pass allows you to enjoy zero deductible on your first private hospital claim. It will be reset if you have not made any private hospital claims over 3 consecutive years.
In the event of a first private hospital claim, Shield Benefits Preserver could help you retain your deductible waiver pass for future private hospital claims, hence lowering your out-of- pocket expenses.
Get started with Shield Benefits Preserver
The process of using Shield Benefits Preserver is easy. Just follow a few simple steps below:
Step 1: Reach out to your Human Resource Department to understand the claim submission process and documents required.
Step 2: Obtain the documents, which typically include the following:
- A copy of the claims settlement letter (which you can retrieve from the AIA+ app)
- Final hospital bill
- Inpatient Discharge Summary (IPDS) from the hospital
- Completed medical claims form from your employer's insurance plan
Step 3: Submit your claim together with the required documents to your employer's insurance plan.
Step 4: Once AIA has recovered the claim from your employer's insurer, you will be notified via SMS and a letter on AIA+. You will also receive your token of appreciation via PayNow.

Shield Benefits Preserver FAQs
As AIA HSG Max is a MediSave-approved Integrated Shield Plan with last-payer status, other insurers that cover the same claim are required to refund the amount paid out under AIA HSG Max.
A MediSave-approved Integrated Shield Plan is the last to pay for a medical claim after the other insurance plan(s) that cover the same claim have been utilised.
You could reduce your out-of-pocket expenses, as these costs may be covered by the other medical insurance plans that you have.
By recovering your claims, you can help preserve your benefit and policy year limits for future claims under AIA HSG Max and ensure that your premiums continue to remain affordable.
You will receive a S$200 token of appreciation when the Shield Benefits Preserver recovery value from a single claim is S$1,500 or more; or a S$100 token of appreciation when the Shield Benefits Preserver recovery value from a single claim is S$250 or more.
You will receive the token of appreciation via PayNow.

Yes, we would recommend you claim from other medical insurance plan(s) that you may have, leaving your personal Integrated Shield Plan, AIA HSG Max as the last option for claim. A deductible is the amount you need to pay for the covered medical expenses in your bill before you can claim under your insurance policy. For example, with a $2,000 deductible, you will pay the first $2,000 yourself. After you pay the deductible, you will also need to pay the co-insurance for the covered medical expenses before your insurance policy starts to pay.
The amount claimable under the AIA HealthShield Gold Max policy is subject to deductible and co-insurance.
If you have an AIA Max VitalHealth or VitalCare policy, the deductible and co-insurance is covered, subject to a co-payment which is the amount you need to pay for every claim.
